Jason Johnson is a Detroit-born self taught visual artist whose work bridges the worlds of photography and painting. He began his creative journey as a painter, later transitioning into photography, where for the past several years he has specialized in fashion and editorial portraiture. His signature style is bold, colorful, and dramatic with an eye for elegance, scale, and striking storytelling.

Each photo session is an opportunity to create something iconic whether it's a shoot rooted in a client’s real-life narrative or a whimsical, imaginative concept. At the heart of his work is the desire to capture people in ways they’ll cherish for years art that makes people feel powerful, beautiful, and seen.

Inspired by his own photographs, he often selects standout images to reinterpret as oil paintings blending classical techniques with contemporary Black portraiture. His work is inherently Afrocentric, honoring the fullness and richness of Black identity, beauty, and legacy.

Through both camera and canvas, Jason is building a visual legacy that uplifts and affirms work meant to be remembered, and to resonate across time.
